  1. Recently went with a friend who purchased a pair of boots from a small
workshop in the outskirts of Richmond (N Yorks) the building contained the
shop and workshop where customers could see the boots being hand made, other
customers in the shop seemed mainly to consist of military personel from
nearby catterick etc including one guy being fitted with boots for some
special forces course in Canada. The firm was called Alt Berg, anyone have
any further info or reviews of these boots ?

  2. I'm probably their worst customer. I bought a pair of motorcycle boots
from them about 13 years ago. They've had almost daily wear, lots of
gear changing, all weathers. They're still waterproof, still absoutely
rock solid and it looks like I'll never buy a pair of boots from them
again - but for the best possible reason!

My wife had a pair of walkign boots from them, about 10 years ago.
they've had only light use but have been good.

Well made, good customer service and a small British firm deserving our
    support.

    Ken

Been using a pair for a few years now all year round in UK and abroad.
No problems, comfortable from day1, waterproof, good grip. Mine are one
of their stiffer boots as I use them with crampons.

Incidentally they also sell other makes of boot and are keen to get a
good fit rather than push their own boots. They are also prepared to
take time over the fitting, something some other places could learn
    from.

A lot of their customers are military and/or motorcyclists,

Good reputation rave reviews on a magazine boot test few years ago. Plus
you are supporting small local UK manufacturing. Sounds good to me
