Aldi cycling clothing

I've got some Aldi bike shorts that came with a padded liner. The shorts
are OK and get a bit of use as commute/uni clothing, but I can't actually
remember if I've ever used the liner, which doesn't help you that much.

For $20 I'd say suck it and see.

I don't like supporting Aldi because of their attitude of "bait"
advertising.
I didn't realise how bad this was until I popped down to my local Aldi
to buy a "special" and everybody started to wish me good luck.
Yep, they were right...all sold out. When I enquired about the product I
was told that people were queued up at the door and they sold out in 5
minutes. I asked how many of the product they had and they said about 20.
Hardly enough if you read the Trade practices act where they have to
have commercial quantities expected to carry on trade.
Try going to there web site to complain and they don't even list a email
address. The best you can get is a list of phone numbers (not even
1800's) for each capital city and they refuse to list individual store
numbers. I rang the headquarters and you get a recorded messages with
options to press and a warning that NO enquirys will be answered on
goods availability's.

Check out google and "Aldi, bait advertising"
The goods may be cheap when they are available but I can't support a
store that utilizes these practises.

I complained to Consumer Affairs and have had no reply.

Apparently the gloves rot fall apart, according to sources I have asked.
I was looking at buying some and there not worth the effort.

Same as horse riding gear they had/have some OK other items cheap.

As with other item from Aldi, which I have bought, there cheap and nasty.

A friend of mine got the Aldi tops and Knicks last time they were on sale,
he said that the top is a little hot and sweaty compared to better quality
stuff, and the Knicks are not quite as comfortable as the better stuff.

But all things aside he said he be getting some more tomorrow to use as a
training / commuting outfit, from the pics they look a little better than
the last lot so I will probably go and have a look and get some.

Then when I show up to mix it with the A grade riders in my Aldi clothes on
my Aldi racer, I can truly be riding team Aldi :P

The racers that I got from Aldi have not been so bad, I must admit I am only
really using the frame and seat from the original bike, as I have not seen
many bikes sold in Aldi that are using Campag C-record / Chorus and 240g
conti comp singles 😉

Being a track rider mostly road racing is only really for training, I guess
I just hate pain over a longer period and would rather just ride short fast
races and not have to bother about braking or gear shifting, and the only
time you climb a hill is when you go up the banking :P

That's Aldi, it's a way of life, here, there and everywhere. Ask any
good german!

It's not confined to Aldi, almost all stores/markets I know have
specials. That's marketing.

Here most of last weeks specials are still on sale. Sometimes they
sell, sometimes they don't.

Oooops, 8:39, gotta cycle down to the local Aldi to join the 9 am
rush, they got a trip meter with an altimeter, gotta gotta have that,
gotta know how high I am.

I hate to admit it, but I think you're right. I waited outside my
local ALDI at 9am this morning and neither I nor any of the half-dozen
other people looking for bicycle gear could find the shirts and
shorts. Then I went to the other one (on my way to work) and judging
by the empty space on the clothes rack they would have had 1 shirt, 1
pair of shorts and 1 jacket in each of the 4 sizes (S-M-L-XL).

So I'm a little disappointed.

In slightly better news, my postie (motor)bike was running a bit rough
(it's a 1967 model, I was riding it today because my ankle is a little
sore), so I dropped by the Vespa shop when I got to work. It turns
out that one of the mechanics there spent 16 years fixing postie bikes
for Australia Post, and he seemed quite keen to work on mine (not many
40-year-old ones about, I guess).

You've got to take the positives where you can get them. ;-)

Bought a red grey and black jersey like on the brochure. Its made from
Coolmax and feels very light and airy on. Has a decent collar to keep sun
off and seems well made. Only slight style issue is whether you want a
jersey with RACER printed up the sides.

Consumer Affairs should be renamed "Big Trader Protection". Toothless
Pussycats.

The relevant body for complaining about perceived breaches of the
Trade Practices Act is the ACCC. They have the authority to litigate a
matter based on a complaint and are given funding for this purpose.

Yes in UK, quality is not the best but very acceptable - especially when
it is subject to off road abuse - snagged by thorns and brambles. The
savings are quite good at 25 - 40% of bike shop prices. Sometimes sizing
can be a bit erratic

Last March they were selling wireless computers with HRM's for 14UKP. I
bought one to try - is worked OK so bought 2 more for my other bikes -
all three are still going strong with only a couple of battery
replacements. If they have them this year I will buy another for my
recently acquired 4th bike.

Do you have Lidl stores? - Aldi's German competitors - they have some
good bike gear once a year. Their map boards are excellent for
orienteering on a bike - only 4 UKP. Also Tchibo - an upmarket Aldi
without the groceries - excellent biking and outdoor gear several times
a year.

No we don't have either of those stores here, but I'm sure that
they're watching how well Aldi is doing in Australia and making plans
of their own.

Or the Leichhardt store is located in a less popular shopping centre
with less customers. You would think that the inner city is well
populated with cyclists.
