I am on a low carb diet and it seems to work good. I only need to lose
10 pounds now and its in my belly. I used to drink beer (3-5 a day) I
only drink once a week but I was checking to see if anyone else likes
Vodka. I drink 3 ounces. Is there any no carb mix with this? And why
does it say vodka has no carbs but 60 calories? Is it fat (I doubt) or
protein ( dont think so) so is alcohol a separate calorie? Im lost. What
makes vodka have any calories? Thank you

Like the ignoramus guy said, alcohol is special. It gets whooped up by your
body as fuel, not converted to anything. There are no carbs there, but
your body will not spend time trying to burn fat when it has alcohol to
burn. Calories are calories, and the booze calories count. If you want to drink, go for it and enjoy it. I can't think offhand of a
low-carb mixer for vodka, but there prolly is at least one."Jj Jj" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

recently at Albertsons and I picked up Sweet & Sour and Bloody Mary, but
haven't tried them yet.

makes vodka have any calories? Thank youAlcohol (ethanol) is the highest priority energy source for the body,
before amino acids, carbohydrates, and fats. The body does not store
alcohol, but if you take in enough alcohol calories you may induce the
body to store carbs as glycogen or fats as fat. On a low carb diet,
the latter is the most likely effect, which is not desirable as it may
cause stalling or even weight gain.So if you experience stalling of your weight loss, you might want to
avoid it. Having said that, I never had a problem with weight loss
while low carbing even though I drank moderately the whole time.
My capacity for alcohol limits me to maybe 10% of my daily calorie
intake, so while it displaces calories I might have obtained from other
sources, it does not cause overconsumption or stalling. As for what you might mix, I quite like adding vodka (esp. the vanilla
flavored stuff) to diet sodas (cream, root beer, cola).Alan

I mix vodka with....more vodka. I keep a bottle of Grey Goose in the
freezer and every once in a while I'll pour a little and sip away, as
is. If I have some lemon handy, I might rub the glass rim with some
peel. Otherwise, don't pollute my Grey Goose with anything, thank you.Lee

sources, it does not cause overconsumption or stalling.See, I was different. Pre-low-carb, I probably averaged one glass of wine per
day. During the weight loss phase, it made me feel awful -- just plain sick,
with headaches and a pounding heart and dehydration unlike I'd experienced
before -- and I had to stop drinking altogether. Now that I'm in maintenance,
I have 2-3 drinks per week with none of those symptoms. So this is definitely
a YMMV situation. To the OP, I'd just experiment. If you feel stalled, go off it until you hit
maintenance. If you feel no effects, great. If it's somewhere in between,
have fun figuring out what to do!Daria

Hi Jj,
If you like screwdrivers then you gotta try the Crystal Light Orange
Sunrise mix. Sugar free, carb free, etc. It makes 2 quarts and is the
closest thing to real OJ w/out being OJ that I have ever seen. I
imagine it would make a great screwdriver.Cheers!Robin

I have been on low-carb for almost half a year drinking nothing but
vodka and club soda with a squeez of lime/lemon. I've lost 88 pounds
so far and I drink 4-5 nights a week with a descent amount of liquor.
I have noticed that when I do this without working out, the weight
stalls but I don't gain. If I keep the work out, I have done 5-6 day
benders and still lost weight.[email hidden] (Jj Jj) wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

This is good. If I'm having a party and want to join the drinkers
I'll make a vodka diet lemonade, with some lime squeezed in.

Well I've lost 30 pounds in three months, while maintaining my (a'hem)
life style. Vodka is keeping me sane, on the diet, and it works for me.
My weight loss has stalled a bit so I'm thinking of quitting alcohol.
However everyone is different and what works/or doesn't work is up to
you and your body. Just figure out what works for you.Bebop-

I'm been in maintenance for about 8 months. When I go to a bar (rare)
I'll bring diet snapple cranberry, and the bartender will make me a
vodka cran using my stuff. It's really quite tasty. I just found
Bicardi makes a flavored malt called Bicardi Silver. comes in 4
flavors. 2.6 carbs. the vodka thing i drink is zero carbs, but the
fact that it has the trace elements means that you burn the trace
elements before you burn any other carbs.Patti

Safeway/Tom Thumb carries a "sparkling water beverage" called Clear
sugar-free Key Lime, which *almost* tastes like tonic. It's caffeine- and
sodium-free, zero carbs.HTH,
