Wow, I haven't been to Al the Wop's in YEARS. I'm surprised to learn it's still there after all this time! Will have to trundle on down the Delta one of these times and check it out again.

Wow, I haven't been to Al the Wop's in YEARS. I'm surprised to learn it's still there after all this time! Will have to trundle on down the Delta one of these times and check it out again.
It's more of a tourist destination. It's got a few antique stores and galleries as well as Al's. It does get pretty quiet in the winter. There are very few Chinese residents anymore. Al's is very reliable and I can get the same meal there I did 40 years ago. Lunch and dinner menus are different. The lunchtime burgers are great; the steak dinners are good for the money and the bar can be fun. And there is not too much competition in the area (I don't care for Giusti's). Another attraction in that part of the Delta is Foster's Bighorn in Rio Vista. A bar with what may be the world's largest privately owned taxidermy collection, from dik-diks to elephants. (gray, not pink ;-}).
