Wednesdays home from work was quite good with a strong easterly
blowing me home up the Lanark road. Today they were forecasting
gales. Great, it was a westerly I was blown to work so fast that I
was passing cars effortlessly and that was on the MTB.

One thing I noticed was there was a lot of noise coming from the
front tyre. I think it must be because I fitted the tyre back to
front (there is a direction arrow on the side), it's the only
explanation I can think of.

You cycle up the Lanark road ? Kudos to you. I would go via the water
of Leith walkway (in fact when I go that way I do go up the WoLW)
as is I don't have to commute that way, so unless it is for pleasure
wouldn't go that way my usual sort of route is out of Balerno through
Glenbrook then the A703 to the Kirknewton turnoff then through
Kirknewton.

I discovered today that while a little disturbing at first, the
recumbent doesn't seem to handle any worse than my uprights (And if
anything, slightly better) in strong gusting crosswinds.

I don't mind cycling up the Lanark road. The first time I did it I found it
quite a slog but after doing it for years it's no big deal. I do like to use
the WoLW but after the rain we've had it will be deep in mud. I know I was
on the MTB but I don't want to be covered in mud on my commute.

The route through Balerno and Glenbrook is a plesant one, nice quiet roads,
I've been that way with Helen when we feel like a short ride.

If you want stability in the wind you need a Windcheetah :-)

I had more luck with the wind today, behind me all the way until I left
Slateford road to turn down Robertson Av. It was a 90deg turn but the wind
felt like it was full in my face, it was almost an effort to cycle down
hill.

Yeah yeah yeah! Project for the winter is two build a racing trike (Or
two if my mate can find the money!). Many other things to do first
though!
