Oh yeah shoes too, where the hell can you get size 15uk not us shoes they seem ony to come up to 12/13 if your lucky any of you have this problem or should i just weld cleats to my bones direct???

Go look at Specialised shoes (do they spell with a Z??)

They are wide-ish.

You are actually in a fairly fortunate position. Most retailers have a few big bikes that they bought and haven't managed to sell that year, and so, if you look around, you may be able to get a good Shim 105/Campag Veloce bike for well under $2K, including shoes, bidon cages, pump, et c.in your size (make sure they put the right stem/bars on).

Northwave and Sidi do big shoes, but they're not cheap in a decent model.

BTW, if you're a big guy, don't go for super-lightweight: it will break. Consider steel (reliable), and perhaps custom-made if you want to spend a bit more, in Reynolds 853/653, Columbus Foco/Zona, Dedacciai Zero Uno.

Some people like lugs, I like the simplicity of TIG 🙂

What stock steel bikes of suggested specs are about for $2000 +/- $500?

Peter, thanks. Do you agree aith mfhor's point that big rideers should eschew superlight bikes ? if so, who qualifies as big and what as superlight (what the maker says of the bike?)

So you think 6'5.5" at 210lbs is big, hell i might have a small beer filled fuel cell but i'm certainly not too big.
You'd be supprised that there isnt too many 60-62 cm frames sets out there either which has me annoyed, the usual line of "nah mate your going to have to wait untill th 05 stock comes in"

Did smile when found shimmano are bringing out big shoes in the next line.

I think there are 2 parts to this - a heavier rider needs a stronger bike + a bigger bike needs to be heavier simply because there is more bike.

To be specific, what I'd like to know is: will a 90kg rider crush a Giant '05 OCR1 or Zero frame, ie "ALLUXX SL alloy: fluidformed;composite rear end" and carbon fork? and, if so, what should I go for at 105 or Ultegra (or Camp. approx equivalents) level for $1500-$2500. Thanks

hey mate Paul Richards here (0409881422) I have and older style giant for sale it is a carbon cfr3 frame fork, but everything else new, it has this years 105 9 speed shimano mavic cxp 33 wheels, I done it up for my old man but his back is not coping so decided to just get rid of it, it is in perfect condition great bike got it advertised for $1400
