team mates, and other invited big names doing a few laps around the beer

Dave Bruylandts who shot the race away played along nicely and remained
dead-serious when they asked him what the chances were of Museeuw winning
🙂 And yes it was a fundraiser too, because they auctioned off his bike
for E.15,001 (for a child cancer charity).

I thought about going, as my parents' house is sort of in the neighbourhood,
but reckoned cycling back 50 km at 3 am with (maybe) a few beers in me
would just be a bit too much.

I have no driver's license, so it would all be quite a hassle; backpack with
change of clothes for starters. Anyway, it's a long journey to get there
from where I live, 3 hours by train, boat, bus. And bring bike, more
clothes, <sigh>

be. Sometimes I think that I ought to be more careful around him but he
