Has anyone figured out a good and safe way to put clip on aero bars on wing top carbon bars? I've got a little room on the sides of the stem clamp area but its outside the marked clamping lines and i'm not sure it wouldn't be too close together anyway. Perhaps I'm just asking for trouble.

The short answer is no.
The complexity of mounting clip-on style bars to road handlebars is often underestimated by cyclists and inexperienced mechanics. Clip-ons sustain a lot of pressure from the cyclist and of course are relied upon to control the bicycle. Clip-ons should only be mounted to a handlebar that the manufacture rates as clip-on compatible and clip-ons should only be mounted to a handlebar section with a constant outer diameter. Do not mount clip-ons to a tapered handlebar section.

ITM makes some that are specifically for their wing shaped bars. They have an elliptical hole to conform to the contour of their bars. I don't know about using them on their carbon bars, though...
