  1. Dear Mayor Bloomberg

I'm sorry to hear about the illegal strike by the transit workers, which has
paralyzed New York City and is costing you people about half a billion
    dollars a day.

The proper way to deal with this was developed two decades ago, so, here's
what you do. Hand a little piece of paper to the head of the transit workers
union, with the following five words printed on it: "Ronald Reagan, air
    traffic controllers".

They'll be back to work tomorrow.

    Hope that helps.

    David

    Indeed... ;-)

    Or two words:

    You're fired.

    Lots of folks need jobs.

You still wouldn't get off your fatass and get one, just let your poor
old father work to support you and your "habits".

Not to mention living in his house, sponging money for your "problem",
    while he works away.

Excellent advice, David. I had to drive into the city today,
fortunately not to Manhattan below 96th Street, but it was still pretty
weird and it promises to be worse tomorrow.

Sometime earlier this afternoon, the national/international parent
organization of the local group that's striking, TWU-100, publicly
called for the strike to end and for the workers to show up for their
jobs tomorrow. The guy running the local is an idiot and the members
    are sheep.
