Hi All
I am a complete bike newbie and would be so grateful to anyone who could offer some advice. Never had a bike as a kid but always wanted one. I'm all grown up now and am very interested in buying (and learning how to ride) my first bike ever! After a bit of online research, I'm pretty sure I want a recreational bike (cruiser or hybrid) that would be good on pavement (cruising around town), on maintained trails/gravel for rides on park trails, and good on hills since I live in a rather hilly neighbourhood. I am about 5'3" so maybe a women's specific bike would be best for me? Also should I pay a little extra and go for a low-maintenance internal hub versus the derailleur? How much care does a standard derailleur need?
Some bikes that have caught my eye while researching... would love your thoughts....
I love the stylish retro look of Electra bikes, especially these:

this would be the splurge bike. i'd need to do some serious scrimping. seems to have it all though: easy/comfortable for a newbie, take on hills, low maintenance, quality and style

Great price - but am i sacrificing quality?:

Any others I should be considering?
I am willing to pay around $500-$800 for something with quality parts and can last me years to come. But of course, something cheaper that does the trick is most welcome. Sorry I I seem clueless - cuz I kinda am! I just know I want to make a childhood dream come true and finally get my own bike!
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions :-)
