Great potential. Have just downloaded it and am putting in a
few recipes.

However: Stability (OK, on a 98se machine, 128Mb) is an
issue. It has already crashed 3 times. Make that 5- checking
out nutrition for the following paragraph, it crashed when
clicking on the scales link.

latest MDAC. Well, 2.7. Is that the latest?

Linking to USDA food descriptions is a bit of a pain.
Guessing what their abbreviations are is hard work. And the
units available are limiting. For example, I have a recipe
calling for "1 large onion". Although I can easily enter
that in the recipe, the USDA link asks me to guess how many
cups it is. Or another example, how many links or patties
is 500g sausages? Or having to go out to convert 2T brown
sugar to cups?

I like to use t for teaspoon and T for tablespoon. It's
probably asking for trouble, but it would be good if
quantities were case sensitive.

Another point: I imported a BGO file from the website, but
it still needed massaging to fit the program. Surely, a
native import would perform flawlessly?

Hmmm.... importing from clipboard doesn't appear to
work at all.

But in general, looks good. Can't beat the price, so thanks
Steve for your generous offer to the ng. I'll add further
thoughts here later.

clipboard.

Do be sure to visit the forums they have very good tech
support there. Post what it is that is the problem and they
will answer you within a few hours. Also there is an update,
due, in-part, to a "bug" that I found (pat on the back LOL)
that will allow you to properly import files In the
MealMaster format.

Thanks for your comments. We are happy to address these

We'll be happy to investigate further if you send us your
recipe box and any specific steps to reproduce the problems.

As you might imagine, with over 6,000 USDA ingredients, it
is quite difficult to translate how they might be in USDA
format into any and all possible recipe. (We host over
150,000 on BigOven.com). In about half the cases, the
software will automatically recognize unit conversions
(e.g., it knows how to go from tablespoons to cups,
teaspoons to tablespoons, etc.). But you're quite right --
it does not know how to translate between "1 cup, chopped"
and "1 large onion", and so there is some work to link up
ingredients the first time.

We are unaware of any issues in importing from the clipboard
but we're happy to investigate via our support forums.

I'm not a shill and I've already tried a couple of the
recipes provided. I found them to be delicious(sp) and have
had no complaints from the other eaters.

Also, the search feature will give you way more than you
wanted so scalability is definitely there.
