  1. From the fearless leaders of ASTA:

ADF Cycling Champs will be held at Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera QLD in
Mar 2005 exact date TBA, it will include the 60km road race and Crit
only. The time trial will be added if we can find a suitable venue.
This is the only selection race for ARAFURA Games (3 pers only)

Reckon I might have a crack......all I have to do now is convince my boss.
In the meantime I am definately going to have to get out to Kew and ride a
few crits to get some idea of how they work. Might have to put in a few big
hills on the BR rides too and get Hippy and Dutch to give me some tips on
sprinting (IMHO I'm a stayer, not a sprinter).

    Ride On,

    Gags

Pedal really fast in a big gear. :-)

Or use your natural talent to break and stay away
from the bunch. I should point out that breakaways
succeed far less than sprinters (imho).
Seriously though, race and you will learn..
Oh, and pick a big, fast guy to sit behind before the
sprint and make sure you are up near the front!
Why the hell am I telling you my secrets!? ;-)

    Gags is MY leadout man.
the one-two-three combo of Blah, Gags then me saw a new record (for me) of 88.9kph on BR23. Gags got 90!!!

EEK! it's hard enough to run up some of the hills in the training area -
up the goat track it's so steep in 2 sections that you literally slide
backwards unless you slow to a walk. Even at my peak fitness (when I did
Cairns half ironman) my heart rate shot through the roof when walking
it. Truly a terrifying MTB concept...
