I tried Dannon's blueberry Activia yogurt. It is very similar to Dannon
blueberry yogurt, except at a slightly higher price.
I think I have been had. You'all warned me.

No matter if it weren't just a publicity ploy to separate you from your
money, did you think eating it once was going to do anything
recognizable to your health?

Why not? I thought the benefit of live yoghurt was to get those
micro-organisms into you to help your digestive system do it's thing, and
that the bacteria would stay in your system. If you suffer some sort of
gastric infection or take antibiotics you need to get that intestinal flora
started again.

Yeah, we all know that.
But I'm asking if eating it ONCE would have been enough for this poster
to know, one way or another? Because the way it sounded to me was that
they sort of expected some miracle if they ate that dose of blueberry
Activia yogurt? How long do you suppose they gave that bacteria to
rebalance the gut flora before realizing it was nothing different from
the other yogurts with a decent amount of live cultures?

I meant this post to be mostly humorous. I am intensely curious about the
marketing of new products and their claims that they can produce miracles.
I didn't really expect anything magical to happen. I thought the invention
of the name "Bifidus Regularis" was intriguing and wanted to know if anyone
else had tried the yogurt. I eat plain homemade yogurt almost every day and
don't really know if it helps me or not. I just like the taste.
I still haven't tried individually wrapped "microwave potatoes" that I see
in the store, but gimmick or no, I just have to try new things.

This begs the question: did you take a dump afterwards?

I'm thinking she's commenting on how one can get the active bacteria from a
yogurt that is cheaper. If you read on the cartons some will tell you if
the have the active culture.

After all the discussion about Activia I thought I would give it a try.
What a dumb one I pulled. Not being used to the much more colourful
container that Activia comes in I grabbed something other than what I had
intended. I hd planned to get plain yoghurt. I opened it up and it looked
like it had gone bad...... really, really bad, or it had been put through
a pulse cycle on a blender with a tarantula spider in it. I had another
look at the container. It wasn't plain. It was Prune. Doh!!
But I happen to like prunes. Damn. It was good. When I go shopping this
week I will get some more plain yoghurt, but the next time I want some
flavoured yoghurt I will probably get prune. Activia is the first and only
yoghurt brand that I have seen with prunes.
