Thank you in advance for any assistance given. Are you aware that you can ride one of the stages? See
http://www.bikesa.asn.au/Events/beactivetour.htm
I can also recommend the 3 regular weekly group rides I do,
all of which have speed and/or distance options to suit racers and
the rest of us :-)- Sat 8am from HMAS Buffalo, Wigley Reserve, Glenelg (flat 50km)
- Tue 7pm from Hurtle Square, City (outside Bike SA office) (usually hills,
about 2 hours)
- Thu 6:15pm from Henley Square, Henley Beach (flat 30km)There's also a hills ride on Thu 7pm from the Tower Hotel, top of
Magill Road.--

During the TDU, go into the Hilton every morning for a 6am start with a
few bunches. Phil Liggett goes along and you can bask in his aura, but
he keeps stopping for mobile phone calls so you might drop him.Donga

I have done this for the last two years and can highly recommend it. Bike SA has one of the best big ride organisation i have ever seen. Have a look at their website www.bikesa.asn.au to get an idea of what they do.

This one is know as the Cobwebs ride; wait till you see the guys in their Cobwebs kit, looks really cool. I use to do this ride till I moved to Canberra in August and found it to be a good ride. 50km of flat riding in formation with a couple of different speeds and a great coffee shop at the end.
As for staying in Adelaide I would suggest two places, both on the western end of Hindley Street (well away from the nightclubs and noise) which makes them close to the action for the races.
The hotels are:
WEST END TAVERN
253 Hindley St Adelaide Adelaide 5000 (08) 8212 5799
Fax (08) 8212 9755
This one is a services apartments which means that they have a stove, microwave, etc.Adelaide Rockford Hotel
Cnr Morphett & Hindley Sts Adelaide SA 5000
ph: 1800 606 796 Hotels--Accommodationthis use to be know as the Baron Townhouse and is a little closer to the hotels, but quite nice
I am going back to Adelaide for the race, fortunately I have friends and family to stay with.
By the way the riders all stay in the Hilton and Phill Liggett does a ride from there early each morning or so I have been told; trying to find out more info and if I do will post in the forum 😄

Thanks for the advice and help everyone. What a nightmare accomodation is trying to organize it all.
I wasn't going till my old boss and friend sent me a E ticket in the post on Monday, very nice man. -

Various - ask the folk who turn up and check out their guts. Or train
hard from here on in and it won't be an issue!donga

surrounded by his coterie of adoring racers that I hardly caught a
glimpse of him, except when we stopped for at least 10 min (!) so
that he could give an interview to a local radio station by phone.No-one dared to go on without the Great Man.
