  1. Hi, my name is Neil and I'm looking for some advice on training by
    abdnominals.

    I'm 18 years old - 5'10ish @ 145 pounds. I got my body fat checked and
    I'm just about 10.5%

Like most males, I want to sculpt my abs and get the legendary six pack
    - but I am confused about the methods to gain it.

Currently I do cardio (usually 10-20 minutes) each time I lift (3-5
    times a week). As for abs, I have been hearing conflicting information;
Some trainers say I can go ahead and do Throw Downs/Weighted Twists/Leg
Lifts every day -- While others say that the abs need plenty of time to
rest and should be worked out only 2-3 times a week.

If I want to see my abs what method should I follow

Body fat is usually the culprit to no definition on your abs. However, at
    10%, you should have some.

Most here would tell you your abs are like any other muscles. They need 1-2
days recovery. And try to stay in the 7 - 10 rep range. That will build
muscle, which is what you need if you don't see them at 10% BF.

Assuming the BF% was accurately measured, which in most cases is doubtful.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone

True. And he didn't mention how it was taken. But at 5' 10" and 145 lbs,
I'd be willing to assume it was pretty close.

  5. Thanks for the responses;

the body fat test was taken using I beleive, a skin fold test.

    LOL

I hate those things. I had a uni friend who was quite upset one day
because a trainer at the uni gym had done a skin fold test on her and it
said she had this really high bodyfat level, and he presented this to
her as a fact because if the test says so, it must be true! This girl
was very athletic and lean. Those skin fold tests are [censored] for accuracy.

Like the others say, at 10% you should be seeing them. Abs are pretty much
all about low body fat. You can do all the sit ups and ab work in the world,
but it won't mean anything if the fat's there. Now, most people will tell
you to not do all those sit ups and crunches, but take it from somebody
who's ripped. I do situps just about every day. Used to do 100 crunches a
day. It's about doing them RIGHT. If you cheat yourself, you're just wasting
your time. They will kill after 100, if done right. Adding weight, and doing
only 10-15 are nice, too. But I do abs more than the average person says you
should, and I've got a ton of def... then again I have lower body fat, too.
Keep your eye on the food, and lower that body fat more if you can (4% or so
lower, maybe)... overkill? Sure, but you WILL see abs after that.

I think that only women at 5'10" and 145lbs should
be dieting to see their abs.

That said, maybe you could get a sex-change
afterwards. Maybe the breast implants will put you
over 150lbs and then you'll be HYOOOGE!

10-4=6 . Lofty goal, sure, but I'm at about 6.5. If he wants abs, he's
going to have to work for some nice ones, no?
