  1. LIVEDRUNK would like to present the following announcement as a public
    service:

If you buy a 750 mL bottle of beer that has a flying canoe and a devil
on the label and an 8% alcohol content, that's gonna affect you.

Thank you Unibroue, your Maudite is the most frighteningly smooth
crazy-ass beer I have ever drunk. It looks like ditchwater, it tastes
like heaven, and it kicks like a mule.

Given my girlish liquor-holding abilities, this bottle has lasted two
    very mellow evenings.

LIVEDRUNK reminds you to drink irresponsibly, and when you drive, aim
    for the haters,

You [censored]. You embarrass LiveDrunk. One bottle, two evenings. And
    you admit it, shameless.

It's a tough job but someone had to do it.

Gabe, babe: first of all, it's LIVEDRUNK. CamelCase is for Web 2.0
losers who also tend to forget vowels. Hey, is losr.com taken? Ahh!
That's horrible!! Remind me never to type random URLs in again.

The first step to solving a problem is admitting to it. Unfortunately,
due to the alcohol, I can't remember the next step.

In my defense, I'd like to point out that this was a 750 mL bottle. In
other words, this was a beer that was the size of a wine bottle, and was
closing on the potency of wine.

It says on the bottle that it is "strong beer on lees." Never mind the
beer: I need to try out some of this lees stuff! Because I want whatever
    this beer is on.

LiveDrunk(tm) gives a new meaning to the term riding in the gutter.

One evening in October, when I was one-third sober,
    An' taking home a Œload' with manly pride;
My poor feet began to stutter, so I lay down in the gutter,
    And a pig came up an' lay down by my side;
Then we sang ŒIt's all fair weather when good fellows get together,'
Till a lady passing by was heard to say:
ŒYou can tell the man who "boozes" by the company he chooses'
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

  13. In May I peddled my bike to the Abbey near Aubel Belgium. They have a
little cafe that serves beer made by the Monks on-site.I drink lots of
beer but after drinking 2 of these I was at the point where I almost
needed to crawl back to my bike.I believe the name is Val Deiu or
something close to that. That stuff can stagger an elephant.

That would explain the incident with the water buffalo in Thailand.
They look awfully big when you are flat on your back looking up and
pretty much frozen by too much formaldehyde in too much cheap Thai
beer. Fortunately he was careful where he placed his hooves when he
    stepped over me.

Val Dieu is strong compared to most U.S. beers not from a
micro-brewery, but low compared to most doubles and triples. Piraat is
about half again as strong by alcohol content (relatively light
    tasting though).

That's the problem with the 'normal' triples - they are relatively
pale compared to others in that alcohol range, and many people in the
U.S. associate alcohol content in beer to darkness. Probably only in
the U.S. is that somewhat true. There are darker triples, but they
aren't my favorites. Nor do I like Ommegang brews all that much and
they are the better of the U.S. triples and quads IMO.

If you hunt through the Brit barley wines, you can find some that get
beyond triples, but they tend to be very dark. Not my normal range.

Thanks to the rather odd way beer is sold in BC, it is probably going to
be hard for me to find it at my local liquor vendor. I should make an
    effort to seek it out.

Tonight, having finished the last of the Maudite, it was Polar Ice
vodka. Longtime readers will know that drinking vodka goes against all
of my principles, but it was very cold, and very neat.

Still like gin and beer better,
