don't they realize the many benefits of having a partner who cycles yet still makes time for them?

of all the times i work 40, maybe ride 20 tops so what is the hang up?

you complain of a four hour ride when it was only three and change!

no i do not have a reason to marry my bike!

i will just ignore the hollow threats that it will be sold, except to warn you can't get much for it...

of course the bike has to be perfect, understand, i gotta ride it!

the best way to avoid that potential minefield is to do what i did..

my lorvely Cannondale SV700 SL was sold in 1999 before i got married...i got £550 for it. It cost me £1300 in the january sale the year before...rrp was about £1800.

i just thought, better get rid of the bike, they'll be no need for that once i get married..

My wife has more Lycra than I do. Of course her helmet matches her bike.
She is not the greatest climber but she tries and rides in color coordinates.
You have to give them there own identity in a given situation or activity and I am glad she has the same interests that I do.
Sometimes I ride behind her since she is slower and I don't want to push her too much so I let her set the pace.
That might make me a ***** also,I am not sure, but you are what you eat.

i have been a serious mountain bike rider for 17 years...usually go through about 3 chains a year. Each chain comes with a new cassette obviously.

thats doing 150 off-road miles per week.

But I am into a new rear cassette and chain every week.

in all seriousness, that is a lot of money you are spending on componentry.

what kit are you using? I have found that Shimano XT is the most durable for day to day riding and racing. Not as light as XTR but more durable in my experience.

We ride in some pretty atrocious weather conditions, last week we were knee deep in snow. Sometimes its heavy salt but this week it is rain and mud fire road training.

Actually wearing out a cassette and chain in a week really does point to a mechanical problem.

I ride more than that in all weather types. I go thru a chain/cassette every 7-10 days.

have you tried the chain lube, finish line century wet?
i find it better than all else, esp. better than the "dry lubes", like pedros, race day, ect, that are inadequate in my experience.
your rings may be worn to the extent that the cause of wear is from them,
sometimes all three need to be binned.

Thanks for your concern pro. However, I do run xt on my bike. I ride mostly wet,rainy,muddy,snowy conditions. In good weather I get more out of my components. I would probably get more miles if I kept my chain clean.

I seriously have to install a rear cassette and chain every 7-10 days. It's bad. I have tried all brands and still wear em out.

I do ride 7 days a week and the terrain her in western Montana is very steep. Mostly standing and hammering on climbs.

I am in no way boasting. I would love to get more out of my chain etc...

My wife would be crazy to say anything negative about my cycling escapades. She has always kept horses so she probably feels like the one legged man in the ass kicking contest when it comes to discussing time and expenses.

Our biggest problem; vacations, she wants to go horseback riding and I want to go cycling. Some form of Greco wrestling of full contact boxing will generally settle the issue pretty quick, we're about 50/50 so far. Acctually, we'll toss a coin or just go for a hike.
