    Why is it that so many people call Lance Armstrong simply, "Lance"? As
    if the man is BFFs with everyone on the planet or something. I mean, Mr
    Armstrong has won eight TdFs in a row, so you'd think he'd receive a
    little more respect than the prevalent familiar first-name references
    to him imply.

    By way of comparison, would any of us refer to Matt Leinart as "Matt"?
    Of course not. And besides, if my name was Lance, I'd be pretty [censored] about the whole thing. Like in that SNL sketch with Matt Damon. I
    bet some dude named Lance cures cancer. Wouldn't that be ironic?
