Helmets are ugly in appearance already without this uber kerfugly
    addition.

preventing permanent brain injury and death?

[Hey, who doesn't like a good h*lm*t flame war?]

It is cute I suppose. Really, I just leave my nasty sweaty helmet
attached to the locked up bike in the forlorn hope some swine will nick
it. Then I'll have an excuse to get a newer one.

    I've been dissappointed so far.

Spam aside, not a bad idea, actually. (Gotta like the Anvil Drop video!)

Helmets take up a lot of room in a pack or bag.

Good idea. I just came back from a trip where we took along five bikes
(and five helmets) and the helmets take up a lot of room. Whether you
believe all the helmet studies or not, in many states helmets are
required for minors, and this helmet would make it less hassle to carry
    them.

This folding helmet wearer is clearly ready to absorb some energy and
    compensate some risk: http://www.craftzine.com/blog/knit_katamari_hat.jpeg

The conclusion is inescapable-- folding helmets are hott, hott, hott!
Unfortunately, those clever [censored] in the rugby world have gotten
the jump on us cyclists to stake an undeniable claim on folding helmet
