Marvellous ... reminds me of the second day on our C2C last year,
apart from the weather - around Haystacks it was dry but cloudy,
starting to rain at Honister House and wetting us through until
Stonethwaite ... ;-)

Stunning panorama!

Thanks! The little digital camera, with load of modes that I usually ignore,
has a panorama one that shows part of the previous image to overlap with,
thus making it fairly easy to get lined up photos (although not perfect,
as you can tell). A tripod would obviously make it easier still. It came
with software to stitch them together automatically, although I had to give
it a couple of nudges. The biggest problem is the software is for Windows,
so I'll have to write my own or do them manually if I want to stick to my
obscure little OS.

Very nice pictures. I was driving from Manchester to Horsham on Monday and I
noticed how unusually clear and haze free the air was. Couldn't help
thinking that it was perfect walking conditions. Typical that it does this
the day after I leave the lakes.

I've stuck thumbnails of the Bowscale ones (and deleted a couple). There
are still a few chucked in things in that pics directory, some of which
were only supposed to be there temporarily, so I really must remove them.

Sounds typical! The Glaramara pics I've got really annoyed someone who
was going to come up that day but decided not to in the end.

One of the best days of visibility I can remember recently(ish) was a
couple of years ago when I went up Causey Pike. The Scottish hills on
the far side of the Solway Firth looked no hazier than the nearest to me -
it was so clear that the distances were deceptive, and you could've almost
believe the Solway Firth was another nearby lake. Conditions sadly all too
rarely seen, and I didn't have a camera with me.
