A different Anquet question - virtual landscape

be? Or are you all in the same position as me? I used to think that
the zoom set at the top of the page made a difference to how I was
seeing the virtual landscape, but that doesn't actually seem to make a
difference now: perhaps it never did.

Please help if you can - this has been confusing me for over a year
now.

Thanks, but that's not really made any difference.

What I'm hoping to be able to do is visualise proposed routes, but I
don't seem to be able to work it out.

P.W. - any help on the Anquet's Support/FAQ - it sounds a pretty basic
requirement. I'm not an A user myself, but when I last played with this at
the local Cotswold shop (it was a very rainy day!) playing with the options
seemed to click it on and off at will, but u needed to pick a representative
route to get it looking anything like the website shot

I think you need to play with some of the controls. If you look in the help
for Virtual Landscapes you'll find these.

Buttons Navigation
W Forward
S Backward
Q Move left
E Move right
A Rotate left
D Rotate right
R Increase height
F Decrease height
T Rotate camera up
G Rotate camera down
Space Reset camera to horizontal

I suspect from what you describe the R, F, T and G buttons are most likely
to have the desired affect for you.

Hmmm, so if you open a route, go into virtual landscape only and then toggle
this setting, you should see the blue route appear/disappear as you change
it. In fact all you paths should appear/disappear. Works for me anyway,
which version are you on?

Sounds like your "virtual camera" is at the wrong angle. Are you saying that
you can't look "along" and see hills rising? Try holding down Mouse Button 1
and dragging it over the landscape. This should change your viewing angle.

Ahaaa - thank you. T and G seem to have done the trick 🙂

I think R and F (Rise and Fall) are more usefull to give you a nice 3D
overview.

In fact, I've just been trying this out, and it seems that when I open
a route in the map - and it shows up in blue on the ordinary map, with
numbered waypoints - I just get a totally blue screen when I open the
virtual landscape, either alone or in split screen. If I close the
route then I can see the paths in green in the VL, and the path I
click on is shown in blue, but it all just disappears if I open a
route.

Well, it seems to be sorted out now. I managed to drag the VL into
view in the blue screen with the mouse - for some reason it's hidden
from view when I open VL/split screen with a route open.

I've also tried toggling the setting that you mentioned earlier, and
that now works as you described. I've no idea why it didn't earlier
on.
