  1. I didn't make it to Windham this week, decided for a run at the beach
    instead.

Well it feels like running on the beach sometimes.

Unfortunately I was asked to leave about an hour in as the NYS Dept. of
Conservation had arrived to do some controlled burning.

I had a MUCH MORE interesting day at the beach. Go here

topless lesbos I saw there, and what they had to say about me.
I too was asked to leave, it seems boners are frowned upon at the nude
beach, geez, of all the things to ban at a nude beach...

that 'trail' looks like right along the power lines.

Shh! The power lines are an "illegal" trail.

I gotta agree with you on this one. I'm sure things "pop-up" at the
    nude beach all the time.

In case you missed it, the entire trail is now open.

We are going in opposite directions. I just finished two boring weeks of
flat, road and beach running. I love the therapy of the ocean but miss
    my hills.

I'll be running from Palenville to North Lake (the finish line of the
Escarpment race) up what they call the horse trail. It's about 3.5 miles
up to the intersection of the Escarpment trail and another few miles to
the lake. Once I'm on the blue trail I can decide how many hours I want
to run. The first time I'm on the trail is a learning experience, I need
to learn all over again to pick up my damn feet. Most times a few toe
    stubs will be a reminder.

It's great, the wife drives up, unloads the car and gets a favorite
picnic table. I show in time for my beer to be cold and to eat. There
are times where female liberation has some benefits. 😉

Saw your post, I had called anyway.
Hope your not doing that run this weekend, I remember going for a hike there
once on Labor Day weekend. Started early, nice and quiet. When I got back to
the campground in the afternoon it was the Bronx Zoo. Over run by tourists.

Going this morning. I don't mind the people at the lake. No disrespect
toward my NYC buds buy one day with the city accents along with high
decibel rudeness is a nice reminder of why I prefer the mountains.

I have my books, in fact I have two weeks of newspapers to catch up from
vacation and a cooler full of malt and hops and another newsletter to
get out in a few days.

I'll be approaching the lake from the south(not the part the race uses)
and only see people maybe a mile from the lake. Even the mile is more
than most can handle. As you might imagine they look at us as
    extraterrestrials as we run by.
