I went for a little out-and-back yesterday afternoon. I had a little tailwind on the way out, so it was extra-fun. I was a not looking particularly forward to coming back against the wind. It was getting pretty late as I turned around, and I noticed that the wind had dropped to nothing. That's right, I had a tailwind on the way out and no headwind on the way back! If that's not a miracle, I don't know what is.

There is a section on the Little Miami Scenic Trail in Ohio where the breeze is out of the north in the morning and then switches around to the south in the afternoon. A meteorologist explained the phenomena to me once but all I can remember is that it has something to do with the heating of the day and the plateau heating faster than the river gorge.

That's a miracle and a half! We finally got a little break in the clouds today, but it was so very windy and cold that even my stalwart Dear Hubby wouldn't go, so... sigh.... I chickened out too. If you had guaranteed it would always be at my back, though, I'd have gone, lol.

I don't mind the wind as long as I get the tail wind on the way back home. Fight through the wind knowing I will be rewarded with a 50 km/h tail wind on the way back!

It would be a miracle if someone could forecast the weather in New England. With that said my wife picked up a nifty weathervane for me to mount up on top of the garage. All I have to do is look up now and I will know where the wind is when I set out.[IMG]/img/vbsmilies/smilies/icon14.gif[/IMG]

Sort of. The little round cups below the directional arrow rotate in the wind. The faster it spins the higher the wind is blowing.
