hi all, I'm thinking of doing a hellweek (8days @ 100mi/day) in 6mo. I'd like to be able to complete this relatively pain free (not bonking by the end of the first day -- or any day for that matter. ).
My normal training rountine consists of 3 days @ 30mi and 1 long ride around 50mi. I'm getting in 120-150mi a week. Sometimes the schedule varies, but the one ride I don't miss is the long weekend ride
What do you think my normal training week should be, as hellweek approaches? I was talking to one of my riding buddies, he suggested my goal should be: being able to do 4days @50mi each, and probably a century on the weekend.
During hellweek, the goal isn't to kill myself for each century, but complete it around the 6hr mark.
I dont do many centuries, but I like to do a 2-3 each year.
A lot of it(multiple 100's) depends upon the terrain your riding over ie flat or hilly, and this must determine your ride time. I would allow longer for the first 2 or 3, in order to pace yourself, so you can get more of a feel about how you will feel after each century. Also make sure to eat well and stay well hydrated.

The centuries will be flat (Florida). My concern is, how will I know if I'm ready for them.
Any suggestions on what type of milage you should be doing, leading up to them, so you know you are ready to complete something like this?
You have plenty of time then. If this was me doing the event, I would start getting used to 100 mile rides once every 2 weeks, if this is possible. I would then, on the alternate weeks, do a 50-60 mile rides back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday, with the plan to gradually increase the mileage to acclimatise myself with doing high mileage one day after the other.
I dont know if the is the best way to train for this, and someone else may know better, but I dont think this is a bad way to start preparing.
