I have an older bike with 7 speed shimano 105 parts. I'm just wondering what parts will be hard to get for this if anything wears out, like the cogset, front derailer,(sp) rear der. etc. Thanks for the help!

7 speed is common again, lots in the MTB/Comfort section of the Shimano Book. I use Sunrace 11-24 7 speed cassettes quite often. 😉 For chains, KMC Z92.

My bike is a road bike. Say I wear out the rear der. . Is it going to be hard to find a shimano 105 7 sp. rear der.? I'm sorry, but I don't understand derrailers all that well yet. What's a good book that I can purchase to help me understand. The LBS told me I might have a hard time getting parts.

If you ever wear it out just buy a new Sora RD. The quality will be better than old 105. 😉

Just to make it clear, you can use almost any 7/8/9/10spd Shimano rear derailleur with your 7spd set-up and it will work fine.
