    Sometimes it is the things
That are not there that marry us
    To what is

    "a fragment:
    P a s s i n g thru the doors, I entered a world of thin and stark
definition, like at a point where flame dances into blackness and is
barely warm. Medieval music gently filtered thru the columned foyer,
mingled with the hollow spaces and voluptuous stone, sympathized with
the candles weeping in the brunette air. As I moved across the
polished floor, it appeared to fall away and leave only those fiery
    tears solid beneath my feet.

    Here the Air
    Pierced with Light
    Holds the Sound afloat,
    As if it savors,
    Then articulates
    Each Note.

    Its Divine Resonance
    Awakens
    My dulled Spirit,
    And skips
    Across its open Face
    Like Light
    Across a Mirror."
    ~ Holly

In relation to evolutionary theories of psychology
And biology and clarify the potentially adaptive
    Nature of characteristics of inattention,
Impulsivity, and motoric hyperactivity, depending on
    The nature of
    Child's environments."

    "There Was a Child Went
    Forth...

    A human being
    Is not a black box
With one orifice for emitting a chunk of stuff
Called communication and another for receiving it.
    And, at the same time,
    Communication is not simply
The sum of the bits of information which pass
Between two people in a given period time.

    ....Let us further imagine
That we decided to make up an experimental
    Universe a deux
And put two human beings in an elaborate box,
And then decided to record all the informational
Signal units that flowed into the box
    And were potentially receivable
    By its occupants."

  4. Music from the Vaults

    O shimmering black box,
    that holds another and another
    here inside me,
    ignite stars of night.
    Shed more light,
    I plead,
    enlighten my day.

    Beauty holds Eros
in a black box of night,
    sparking container of light.
    Swallow your pride,
    as I playfully sing
    and praise your song.
    I swallow you.

    Usher me into morning,
    lovely one,
    with stepping stones across tonight.

    Open my day
    into your hands,
    precisely where we lay,
    opening ourselves,
    here together.

    Our voices echo back
music from the black vault of night.

  5. New Ideas

O Lente, lente currite, noctis equi.*
    - Ovid

    ....echoes of old...

    O horses of the night
    go slowly,
as I rein you back to me,
    rewind this golden cord
that binds you to my knowing.

    Details mend upon demand.
    Rein back the night
    until your thighs,
    glisten as forest foliage,
    before morning. Darkness swells
    my heart for you,
    telling source of unknowing,
    a wishing well.

    Take me through light again.
Heal this rent in the fabric of time,
    torn bedcovers askew.

Weave me a story to hold us back,
    your body lashed to mine,
    this night undone,
    unfolded under sheets.

    Skillful rein, knowing hand,
harness the galloping caress of night,
    before my saddle folds,
    returned inside a cardboard box,
    the black box of night.

"The history of the book presents us with a complete,
    observable communications revolution.
The historical record is such that we can watch
the whole of a vast socio-cultural, political,
and economic change happen over a period
of some three to five hundred years
    (depending on whose
    perspective you prefer).
By following the developments in manuscript

    used to produce those texts,
we can also chart the various changes
in social organization, politics and economics
from the feudalism of the 7th century,
through to the advent and advance of early capitalism
    in the 15th century.
The implications of the printed word are vast.
    There are those who argue

if it were not for the printing press."

    PS. Tell Michael's Dad, Mr.
    Atkinson, that Flyer,
    Hello! Great book! Great Mr.
Rick Bragg quote there, too. Great
    Grief commentary.

    [Good grief! Here's
    Charlie Brown snooping around
    Town!]

    Or
Just see: Me, ca. September, 17, 2004 ~
I was looking around some pics of my hometown,
Which has been savaged by hurricane Ivan,
And I came across an excerpt from a biography
By the father of someone I knew.
    This opening passage, from Mr.
    Atkinson's book,
    Touched me.

"Rick [Bragg] was in New Orleans doing a feature story
for the New York Times and was interviewing
an elderly black lady in the ghettos
who had just lost her grandson
due to a senseless shooting. He described how
the little boy's 'Dr. Seuss' books just dropped
to the ground and the grandson died
looking up at his grandmother with a shocked expression,
    unable to speak a word.
When the interview was over, the grandmother thanked
Mr. Bragg for taking the time to write
    about her grandson.

Rick said that his normal reply to such a response
    from someone consumed with grief
is simply to say Thank You and leave.
But in this instance he replied,
'Why in the world do you want to thank me?
All I have done is to scribble a few notes.
    Your grandson is gone forever
and you are the one who will live with his loss
for the rest of your life.'

    The grandmother replied
by showing him a few carefully folded clippings
    from New Orleans newspapers.
The little pieces of paper, coldly and briefly,
reported the story of her grandson's tragic death.

Then the grandmother said to Rick Bragg.
'You sees, sir, if it ain't writ down,
    peoples forgets.'"
    ~ Tex Atkinson

    "Forerunner 201?'

"Yes. Comments and lots of them.
    Ask Dr. Google.
    Cheers"
    ~ DonVon

    Who's that?

  12. The nut...

    ....unscrews around the bolt
that locks tight the secret passage,
    a text linking time's passage
    overhead.

Ancient copyist rotates 'round a wooden axel -
    Guttenberg's invention, spreads more
words than a single hand can manage:
    A hand-turned printing press.

Read me a book with movable type,
    a child's toy blocks,
    brightly colored, with hand-carved relief.
Arrange each letter precisely into place:
letters make words, make sentences, make me.
Do I have your stamp of approval?
    Press yourself to me.

    Thread* carefully, Leonardo,
    so these grooves match precisely
    for a precise fit,
so you can slide around a spiral passage
beyond what my eye can see.

    Blind though I may be,
I feel the letters with my fingers.
    A child's garden of Braille,**
    polka dot pathway, narrates
    our painting's story
    to me.

    Artfully unthread this groove
that locks me in my room
    without you.

    The blind mind's eye
    - we're all impaired,
in one way or another -
invents what only my heart can feel.
The Wedding of Touch and Word,
    an eye for three.

Run your hand across my hidden texture,
    an optical-touch illumination -
Blind sight gifted with urgency, and legend,
    patterned from our vocabulary.
    Feel your way to me.
