Anyone ever use Hippie-tech Suspensions (in Boise, ID) for service/repair? I sent them him my 5th element for repair and he has been nice to speak with, but *very* slow to get any work done and *quick* to pass the buck with excuses. If he is a stand-up cat (by history) I don't mind (too much) having to wait, but if he is a sketchy guy then I might have to get "not nice" I suppose, but that always sucks. Experience/insights into him would be appreciated. I really hope I haven't made a mistake trying to keep my money in the northwest. Grassyass.

He has had it since the beginning of July. We played phone-tag for a week or so before we could communicate what needed to happen and get approvals etc. Since then it's been a whole lot of nothing. On the "good news" front though there haven't been any charges or anything on my CC. I don't think the guy is a thief or anything, but if he has a history of being hella slow then I guess I should keep on him ,but if it's just one of those unlucky "[censored] happens" things then I'll just have to chill I guess.

A friend of mine had a similar experience with them on his Fox shock. I guess there's more "Hippie" than "tech". I don't think he's sketchy, but he isn't really on the ball.

When we had a problem with Jim's 5th Element, we sent it back to Progressive Suspension. We had it fixed and returned back to us within a week. Why not head straight to the manufacturer? They have awesome customer service.

Why didn't you just send it back to Progressive? I sent them my shock back and got it back all cleaned and serviced in 2 weeks... no charge... I even got a sticker... Isn't the company sticker like their version of the lollipop from the doctor when you were a kid? :-P

I don't really have a really good answer I guess. My original thinking was I would get better attention and service by using a small "local" (not to me but...) service center. That whole "...the giant corporate shop couldn't *possibly* give me the level of service and turn-around a small shop..." thing, you know? Wrong again spanky, wrong again.
Maybe this cat will give me give me a lollipop and a brownie? Right now I'd just take my shock and a kiss on my ass.

That's totally unacceptable. Maybe get the thing back "as is" and send it over to Progressive??

OK, here's the story. Jerry (the owner) is a good guy and does good work. Right now, I have it on first-hand knowledge, that he is waiting for parts from Progressive. He should have told you that. But fear not. He rebuilt my Bomber about a year ago, and services *lots* of forks. Good reputation. But let me know if there are any big problems and I can yank his chain real local-like.

He told me he was waiting on parts a couple of weeks ago. He has been *very* polite and nice to speak with. My main reason for asking for insight on him was that it has been sooo long since he originally got the shock (end of June) and I didn't want to just sit on this if I was going to get shafted in the long-run. On the other end of things I didn't want to be a huge [censored] to someone that wasn't trying to screw me either.
It had just been (what seemed like) such a long time for someone to have a shock *before* they even inform me they can't get the parts, you know? The guy seemed to know what he was talking about when we have talked and he was cool to rap with; (in my mind though) nice doesn't always mean straight-up and/or competent.
Thanks for the offer. We traded voicemails over the last couple of days and he seemed to be just as tired of waiting as I am. He seemed (somewhat) confident he would have the parts before the weekend and could get my junk to me sooner rather than later. If something doesn't change by next week I will take you up on your offer. Thanks again. Take care.
