If you took the time to look at those links, you would have noticed they are for the 5th
Element COIL and NOT the 5th Element AIR. You might want to give this product a try:
hop.comhop.com They also have a toll-free number if you have trouble copying and pasting
    the link. 1-800-532-3607

While you were busy posting phone numbers and links on how someone should give you an answer to
which you were just too lazy to get yourself... here is Progressive's contact info... Phone & Fax
    Numbers: --For Literature - 877.690.7411 --Techline - 760.948.4012 --Fax -
    760.948.4307

I bet for all the time you spent pissing and moaning here you could have taken your finger out of
your nose and gone right to the source... Why did you waste all your time fishing for an answer?

If it is such a bother to help someone out, why bother in the first place? That's kinda sorta what
    discussion groups are about.

Waiting for a novels length response from JD Junior........

It's all about the reading skillets.. The advice originally given... was to read the manual... Which is the best advice given the difficulty of having to paraphrase the manual... When the manual explains it in the most efficient manner.
If he had such deep problems with understanding... he could have saved a lot of time by using the phone numbers provided by progressive.
I provided them... for his ease...
Why am I even explaining this to you... Do you have any idea of how to set up a 5th element shock??? Anything constructive to add besides your typical criticism. If not you should stick to posting to what you know and not what you think you know...

Yes, this is a discussion group...to discuss mountainbiking and the lifestyle, but this _isn't_ a
manufacturer's discussion group where you have to explain to someone how to set up their shock in a
whole essay's worth of words. No, its not a bother to help someone out, I do it all the time
whenever I can, but sometimes, its easier to go directly to the source of your problem...the
manufacturer, they made the product, they can best explain how to fix the problem that you are
having. Would you rather listen to a schmuck who has no clue, in this newsgroup trying to explain
how to set up the most complicated rear shock around or would you rather go get a direct and
    accurate answer from the manufacturer?

JD Junior? Inappropriate, very inappropriate. Why are you even bothering to get involved in this
thread? Do you have anything constructive to add in order to help the fellow out or are you just
responding for the sake of being an [censored]?

Not only all that, but IIRC the OP ended up answering his own question in quite some detail (quoting
    the manual, no doubt)!

(Early thread expired on my news server; not worth effort to look up now.)

Bill "how much air/oil/sag should I run in my Marathon? (I'll be back with specific answer in few
days, after you all tell me to RTFM or call M)" S.

  5. Well, the original question asked what the relationship was between some of the different settings, which is not a topic covered in the manual - the manual describes what each setting does individually. Usually, when you change main air pressure in a shock, you'll have to readjust the rebound dampening accordingly. I wanted to know if the IFP also had an effect on rebound, or if it had any effect on the main air pressure, (since both main and IFP contribute to the amount of sag). I did try contacting Progressive on several occasions, but never got through. I finally did speak to someone at Santa Cruz, who told me that the main chamber and IFP work independently of one another. Since this is a relatively new shock on the market, I posted the information to share with others who may have had similar questions. I made the original post hoping to discuss the issue with someone who actually owned a 5th Element Air and knows something about it. As is usually the case in this news group, most remarks come from people who like to hear themselves talk and have nothing constructive to say, making smart-ass remarks and desperately trying to be noticed - proof that most of the people chatting online were the geeks you once went to school with. Now who's next with nothing to say?

Happy flaming, I'm done with this thread.

    It's more subtle than that.

See, by spankyski's standards, all questions, no matter how idiotic or off topic, should be fair
game in USENET. Hence, a paragraph of questions...

I knew he wouldn't get it.

I guess I set the bar a little higher than I wanted.

That really doesn't answer the question - why should I "do something" about my haircut?

Again, I'm "pointedly" not asking you why you care so much about my hair. I *really* don't want to
    know the answer.

That's not really an answer to the unasked question either. You have reading comprehension problems.

I am disturbed that you are so interested in mens' haircuts. I don't want to know if you've got the
lotion out, or your state of dress or any other detail, but suffice it to say that your opinion on
my hair, if viewed through the "DogPoop Filter" means that I have done it just right. Thanks for

My god, you *are* good. But the third one is very hard.

I will not give any hints, and will only reward correct answers.

Have fun, and thanks for making me try harder.
