I wasn't being the smartest. You can see that I was way over in the other lane before I passed him. That's the only way you can go through that section at that speed. But I saw him in time to move over to my side.

I just rigged up my camera/speedometer so that you can now see my speed in the picture. I also mounted the camera so it's right side up.
I was looking for a helmet camera online tonight, way too much money! Just check out what I did with some electrical tape, heart rate moniter watch mount, tripod screw top, and piece of metal!

it's so much fun! I can't wait to see what the guys say at the group ride tomorrow. Although I will be carrying the camera in my pocket until my desired videotaping

That's pretty impressive. I would have expected the camera to vibrate a lot more.

Do not make me rig my aero bars as camera stand ... just don't.

Damn, I got some sweet downhills in today but they got deleted somehow. Had a nice one of catching back up to some cars at 56mph.

But I am heading out for another ride now, need to get some good clips in!

Damn. I can't get the vid to play. I get the putfile screen with the buttons for play etc but when i hit play a window pops up from realone telling me i need updates for my player, then it says there are no updates. Over and over it goes. Remedy? Anyone?

Try to download windows media plyer 10. sounds to me like you may need to just update your player. Downloads are free!

eeyaahh!! I wonder what would happen if you encountered a car or truck pulling out from what I can see as quite a few driveways or intersections in that clip. You are NUTZZZ! What's the speed limit there, 50 km/hr (30 mph) yes?

25mph. but I do have eyes, and I can steer around something that comes in my path. 55mph is not that fast as many of you think. the worst part of that road is the damn bumps as you can tell.

I made a list of about 10 sections of road that I'm going to videotape within the next week. It's going to be a ton of fun. I will make some adjustments so you can see my speed better.
The camera I am using was a free givaway digital camera I got in the mail, so it's basically the lowest quality, but still gets the job done!

p.s. that 2nd video clip was on a downhill with a max grade of ~17% near the fire hydrant. But I had a nasty headwind. I don't think I ever felt that much combined wind on my bike (~75mph). I had put on an 11 cog that day (53x11), too bad I had a headwind, I think I would have did a PB on that road.
I will post some pics of the hill sometime. I call it a ski slope in the winter, because that's exactly what it looks like with the telephone poles.

Uh.. you're going to have fun steering around a car pulling right out in front of you with a truck or car coming in the other lane at the same time. Granted the probability is fairly small. Fairly. I want to see the video of you mounting the curb and riding the grass at 55 mph.

55 mph is 88 km/hr. I've done 75 km/hr on a highway down a 500 m long 5% gradient hill and it was quite relaxed, and no you're right it isn't that fast. I am a bit nervous about a puncture at that speed. The place I go fast has guardrails and no intersections, and a limit of 100 km/hr and I can see 800 meters in front of me at all points.

There must have been a lot of people, if they did see you, that must have said "what was that?" after you passed by.

Inspired by these funny videos, yesterday I did the same.
I secured the camera to the handlebar and got a 5 minutes video of one of my favourite downhills.
Not *very* fast, max speed was 71 km/h, but with those turns it is funny.

Now the only problem is that the video takes 128 mb.
I can put it online but I guess it's too big for you to download.

Does anyone know a program that I can use to resize it? The actual resolution is 640x480, very big, but the other choice was something very very small, almost useless.

I just secured the camera (a Sony DSC-P72) to the handlebar with a lot of paper tape and some foam in between to dampen vibrations.
Any tips/suggestions to do things better?

After these hills, I realized my cassette was loose! that never happens! I guess I was lucky and didn't end up like Tyler Hamilton did that time in the tour with his cassette!

I just used electrical tape mostly to hold my camera on the bars.
