1. This thread is only for those that want to push 500 watts or more for 1 hour in 2011.

2. I want to do 500w for an hour, so I'd like to join your club.
Please do tell your training regimen to get to this mark.
Should I start doing squats and deep-knee thrusts now? What do you think about doing 'planks' with a weight vest? Do you think running sprints will help?
How many hours per week should I ride?
I'll need a lot of instruction so please help me out with a suitable training program. Thanks.

3. For sure!! Sign me up!

4. What is the benefit of reducing my power to 500w for an hour? Will it help with my training?

5. I want to join but the last guy I know who tried ended up like this!

I got enough issues last thing I need to do is to keep having to carry my intestines around all day.

6. Miguelon put out over 500 watts (estimated) for one hour during his hour record. Big Mig was also the crusher of dreams, so trying to match his power output is going to be a exercise in futility for 99.9999999% of people

Big Migs devastating time trial abilities:

Armstrong, as world road champ, had said that he wanted to do a ride in this Tour time trial. The result. Caught for something silly like 6 minutes by Indurain and left standing.

7. I can hold 500 watts for 1min and 21 seconds. FML.

Fergie my prayers are with you and your city of Christchurch, hope you're ok.

9. I was thinking the same thing last night when the news broke. I hope you are okay Fergie.

10. Not going to lie worst 24 hours of my life seeing the damage down to our beautiful city. Here is a quick summary I wrote on fixed gear fever...

Rough times here in Christchurch. In September we were hit with a 7.1 earthquake that was centred 40km away from town but still did significant damage. Since then we have had nearly 5000 aftershocks. Yesterday a 6.3 that was centred 5km from town tore the city to pieces. The initial quake had no fatalities but at present to death toll is 65 and there are 300 unaccounted for as entire buildings collapsed.

Worst timing with NZ elite nationals starting on Friday and team managers Murray Steele and Tony Strang unable to attend as they have to focus on their homes and business's and Terry Gyde had been working with our Junior Teams Pursuit squads but his skills as a Fireman are a greater need here in Christchurch.

Our track is fine and riders were training there today despite the rain that is hampering the amazing efforts of Civil Defence, Armed Services, Police, Fire and Ambulance and the International Support that has been flooding in.

We are down but not out. Christchurch will be rebuilt and our team to elite and age group nationals are full of anger and determination to succeed!

Below is my LBS. Poor Andrew was out of action for 2 months after the first one. This is the end for a great guy and a good little corner bike store.

Thanks for the update, everyone here will be happy you and your family are OK. Its a shame about the bike shop, hopefully he has insurance and can move on.
