  1. I've been riding a XC racing bike--- and have just recently become enthralled with downhill. I'm a woman and don't want a big downhill bike. i want to be able to do tricks and bike uphill. I've grown up with Norco bikes and want to stick with---i like the fluid 1 (2003), fluid 2 (2004) and 4by (2003 or 2004)... any suggestions?

I am certainly NOT an expert on Norco, but my experiences with them have ALL been good. I think I would get the Fluid 1 and ride the hell out of it! It would seem to me that it is a bit more of an anywhere you feel like it bike, and that's a good thing, right? I have my Heckler set up similarly to the Fluid 1 and I'm just as likely to grind in the saddle all day as I am to mash downhill and hang with my shuttle monkey friends. Enjoy your new bike (whatever you choose!) and ride well.

    thanks ireman,

picking up my bike tomorrow--- i was leaning towards the fluid - nice to have a little confirmation!!

  4. lol @ shuttleMonkeys I love that description!

  5. If you do any x-country riding go with the Fluid! I love norco and just bought a 2004 4By. I absolutely love it, I'm 6'7 250lbs, so i had to adjust the stem a bit for my legs and it is not geared at all for riding so I also had to change both the front and back gearing or there would be no way you could go up hill with it. I don't regret my choice at all, but I'm Pure Jumps and Downhill, so X-country isn't really an issue for me.

The 4By is a heavy bike, but it is unbelievably stable on jumps and has saved my butt more times than I can count (and I only got it a Christmas).

  6. Oh ya, I have a buddy that does hardcore riding and he got to ride a Fluid 1 on the North Shore, and he said he did everything on it that the free ride bikes were doing, and even some of the big hit downhills.
