TO be a marathon it has to be 26.2 miles. 13 miles is a _half_ marathon.

advice do you have before I can run this 13 mile race ?Assuming you just started running and based on your pace, I'd suggest
* you plan on running it in 2005. That will give you the time to prepare and not hurt yourself.
* you try running some shorter races, like a 5k first. Then progress over some time to 5mile (8K),
then 10K, before trying the Half marathon (13.1mile).* you vary your training. All training must include stress (training runs and races) and rest (off
days or cross training).Other Suggestion: read the Frequently Asked Questions faqs.orgrunning faqOpen ↗
Final suggestion is to keep asking questions, here in rec.running and elsewhere.
Hope to hear more from you.
Enjoy the run. Ed

No wonder the dog bit you, you smell. The dog was trying to clean up the environment.
