  1. ok - just got the guts to make my first post on this newsgroup...

i bought a road bike for the ATB earlier this year and been really
enjoying getting into the whole riding thing... just for
    recreation/fitness...

Promised myself i wouldn't post until I did an hour long ride where I
averaged 30km/h... and waddya know... to my complete amazement I managed
that this arvo.. had to take quite a few looks at the cateye to believe
    it myself...

now maybe for some pack riding... or an easy crit... who knows...

but tonight i can sleep easy with a small degree of satisfaction having
reached a goal i set for myself in '05... guess that means its gotta be
    bigger faster stronger in 06!

    Happy NY everyone!

Nice work! You in Melb? With those goals and speeds, it sounds like you
need to BR.... we don't race.. unless there is someone new we have to sus
out 😉 it'll improve your average heart rate if nothing else!

    cheers,
    GPL

Welcome. My first ATB this year, conditions couldn't have been better.
Would have been better without three punctures and one of my mates
    having gastro on the day.

<mild rebuke> This is a *cyclists* newsgroup, not a racing one ;-) All
that's required is a passing interest in bikes, although an all
consuming passion is preferable... </mild rebuke>

    Congrats :-)

  4. Well done Cheez.

    Great work!

Good to hear that you reached a goal...what's the next one? 🙂

  5. Way to go Cheez! This year I have finally become a rider too and loving it.
Mind you I am a long way off 30kph.... can only fantasize about that.
    Kathy.

Well done! Though a.b isn't a racing group, you know! ;-) My P.B. so
far is about 26km/h (30km in 1 hour 8 min) (on my MTB, though -- must
    have had favourable winds... ;-))

    Cheers,

    David
