30 Things You Can Do With One Dollar...

REO Speedwagon's record sales aren't exactly rocketing.
Their greatest hits for less than one dollar!
(they were [censored] anyhow).

I read recently that the US Treasury are thinking of launching (relaunching??) $1 coin.
Is this a good idea?

The Susan B Anthony dollar coin was a flop, only printed one year I think - 1979? It looks too much like a quarter and no one collects them so they're still in circulation but unusual to get one in your change.

The Sacagawea dollar coin is having a little more success - it looks a lot different and can be used in a lot of vending machines and is given as change from vending machines - especially stamp machines at the post office. It does look a little too much like a token for the car wash though.

The real difficulty is in convincing the public that we don't need the $1 bill anymore (or the penny and nickel for that matter).

It's interesting to see from country to country how much is the lowest denomination coin is worth.

at the going exchange rate, #26 promises the best 'return' 🙄

Our currency got swept away with the introduction of the Euro in 2002.

But our old currency used have really ridiculously small denominations.
We had Irish £1, 50 pence (2 x 50pence = £1), 20 pence (5 x 20pence = £1),
10 pence (10 x 10pence = £1), 5 pence (20x 5pence= £1), 1 penny (100 x 1penny = £1) and then a .5penny (200 x .5penny = £1).
The halfpenny (or Ha'penny pronounced "haypenny"😉 was the smallest denomination possible.
You could buy practically nothing with a ha'penny!

My dad used have a few $1 dollar coins at home - with the US bald eagle on one side.

...don't need the penny anymore? hah! try pumping gas to a dollar amount without prepaying for a challenge.

I wondered if that one was proffered "tongue-in-cheek" because $1=1/2 lb (BPS 😕 ) How much can one accomplish w/ an amount that small 😕

Hmmmm, I guess that's why maxim made that list for us to know some of the best way we can do with one dollar!
But obviously some are ridiculously ellaborated! Actually I am thinking to try some ways on the list. 😄

But atleast a fun to read! 🙂

Our government would like to phase out the manufacture of $1 bills in favor of the $1 coins. The coins may be more costly, but they last longer. Trouble is that they've never been able to get them right. The Susan B. Anthony coin looked and felt too much like a quarter to most people. The Sacajawea coin is ok, but they look like absolute [censored] when they've been in circulation for awhile. Think about game room tokens that got alot of use, and you'll understand. The new coin is a series of our past Presidents. Not a bad idea, but it looks like they're made out of the same metal as the Sacajawea coins. So after a few weeks or months, they too will look like cheap game room tokens.

we all know there's more than 30, but nobody else wants to pony up additions to the list.

In sci fi money is always odd shapes, like triangles and pentagons. It's a crying shame that all U.S. coins are circles. I propose we make one dollar coins as triangles with rounded corners. If we are going to get to the future, we need to start making changes today. Next we can change the name of the dollar to the creidt and then start working on hover cars like the ones in Bladerunner. 🙂

I am in Korea right now (military) and they don't bother with pennies over here anymore. They just round to nickels. Pennies are a pain in the ass anyway.
