  1. The rear brake hose for my Stinger is 3" too short, so a new
one will have to be ordered (this is due to the hose having
been measured on the old frameset and the new one being
    slightly different).

The result is, of course, another week of riding the
    wedgie :-(

Enough of these excuses Chapman. Admit it, you prefer riding
the wedgie and are just finding exuses to not go back ;-)

Really Guy, you don't need to give lame excuses. We know you
    actually enjoy riding the wedgie.

I wish. After two months of riding up to 30 miles a day,
I've developed a saddle sore which is quite excruciating. I
think it's the result of my saddle getting wet in the
    (outdoor) bike rack :-(

Probably way too late now, but I've heard that if you start
to show signs of chafing then shoving a handful of corn
flour down your cycle shorts helps reduce friction and
    alleviates the problem.

Doesn't it turn to paste in the wet?

I would have thought so, but I'm only going by other
people's reports. I suppose you could use it to thicken the
gravy for your roast after your Sunday ride. You wouldn't
need to add any extra salt either! :-P

If you used custard powder instead it is thixotropic so
would make an ideal gel liner for your shorts ;-)

Yep. Custard powder is cornflour with flavouring (vanillin)
and colouring (anatto) added, so is to all intents and non-
    culinary purposes the same thing.

Well, I guess it would give a jaundiced look to the nether
    regions as well.

Mind you, just goes to show that you've become a softie as
a result of riding the bent. It does show, however, that
real cyclists have buttocks of steel, not like these wimpy
    bent riders ;-)

Pah! Used my mountain bike today (my motorcar had to go to
the doctors' and it's easier to fit in the back than the
    Speedmachine). Hurrah for Brooks!

On a serious note, I do hope said sore heals swiftly.
Whatever you do, don't let it get infected, as then it
    could be really, really nasty.

Been there, done that. Cause was a new pair of shorts!

I'm pretty sure Danny Colyer is meant to post the stomach-

    Eh? Wassat?

I got an amusing reaction in the pub the other day when I
mentioned how I had managed to lose 4lbs in the space of a
few minutes [1]. It's something I do every morning, and I
    usually only weigh myself afterwards
    :-)

[1] It wasn't quite true - I weighed myself on Saturday
morning before and on Sunday morning after, and got a
    difference of 4lbs.

You must have a huge bladder. The thinking on the
Singletrack forum was that it's only 80g, but there
were actual weighings mentioned. I'll leave you to

You should have changed the subject line to '3" too long'.

A look at the 1/3 pound picture makes 4lbs seem almost
realistic, but personally I reckon the Saturday morning
weight must have been a bit dodgy (the Sunday morning
weighing gave my normal weight of 10st 10lbs).

Someone on that forum mentioned lab testing samples, which
reminds me of a story one of my university lecturers enjoyed
telling. When he was younger he had a job in a hospital
biochemistry department that involved testing stool samples.
He and a colleague used to take turns performing this
particular task. The first stage of the analysis was to
    liquidise the samples.

The story was told in order to stress the importance of
always putting the lid on the liquidiser when
liquidising biological samples. The colleague forgot
    (only once, mind you).

And while we're on the subject, I caught DD this evening
with her head in the potty talking about smelling her poo.
    Don't you just love kids?
