It's actually a well-disguised form of 700c tire.

It's used on a beast known as a "29er", oddly enough.

It appears that I'll have one on Monday.

Smoother ride over bumps, 'cuz the larger wheel doesn't sink in like the
smaller wheels do. Many feel there's a much greater feel of momentum, which
keeps them going (and upright). Generally not quite as nimble as a
smaller-wheeled mountain bike, but that could be good or bad (and the
manufacturers are dialing in geometry to minimize the handling differences).

Do not go radical on a simple question.
Anybody might say that if it puts you higher off the ground maybe you got it
because you were tall.
The 29ers are a smoother ride as told by another poster who knows Not
everything is subjective.
I am just trying to finesse what the spectacle is about this new bike. Why
was it made in the first place? like Maybe I would like it because I am
tall and my new bike spins out at top gear.

It is a common misconception that 29ers put a rider higher. It is
completely false. Height of the rider is dictated by the bottom bracket,
which is a function of the design of the bike. Since the BB is not on top
of the wheels, it needs to be no higher on a 29er than a 26er.

What the 29er wheel does do is put the relative mass of the rider lower in
relation to the centers of the wheels. This arguably makes it harder to go
OTB. This depends on whether you are rotating on the contact patch or the
center of the front axle. IMHO the location of the OTB rotation point is
usually somewhere inbetween the contact patch and the center of the front
wheel -- if the bike is still moving forward the center of rotation is
closer to the contact patch, if the front wheel is stopped, you are rotating
on the center of the front wheel. One warning -- if you do OTB on a 29er,
you land hard, at least that is my experience.
