26" 144 spoke wheels

Have you read the links? Yes, they do exist and yes, they look quite
cool on a posing machine. I suppose if you break a spoke the wheel
doesn't go out of true either!

I lost four spokes on the same side of my Mavic 521 32 spoke rims.
The wheel stayed very very nearly true. The downside is that the
wheel cannot be trued.

I've never seen a 144 spoke wheel before; are they a fairly recent *invention* ? It must look almost solid; by my calculation the nipples are 12 apart.

Anyone got any links to pictures?
