- The Ventoux is already being widely mentioned as being part of the 2007 Tour de France route, and now Italian magazine Bicisport is claiming that one of the Giro’s newly epic mountains will feature on the Tour route next season. The climb in question is the Colle delle Finestre, which featured in last year’s Giro and includes 7.9 kilometres of unpaved road. With some of Roubaix’s cobbles also rumoured to be on the route and talk of a long-awaited return to the Puy de Dome, next year’s race, which of course starts in London, could turn out to be something really special.
i think the giro should be The Tour. the giro organizers have been alot more creative over the past few years. i like innovation and also the will to just plain shake things up.
I really hope we do see a return of Mont Ventoux, it's one of my favorite climbs. And watching the big guns tearing it up on unpaved roads would just be fun.

I heard that rumour (Colle delle Finestre) when i was at the Giro this year. Seems to be really happening ...
Yes it’s important to tribute the man who died on the Ventoux with more gear in his pockets than in Landis's right hip....
It is... It's important to remind people and fans on 1967. And whether you like it or not, Simpson wrote very important page of TDF, cycling and modern sport history that day.
It's not the point to decide anything, it's point to give tribute to Simpson.
In 1987 tour there was an ITT to Mt.Ventoux, in 1972 and 2002 tour finished atop Mt.Ventoux. Therefore, all the three tribute stages ended with a harsh GC battle.

Please read entire thread before you post any reply. It's said that it will be exact replica of 1967 stage (very different from those stages you're mentioning). If that's the case, then it won't be decisive for GC. At least not as decisive as it would be like mountain top finish on Ventoux.

Italian website reported last week that Colle Delle Finestre was unlikely for this year. However, they did corroborate stage from Marseille to Carpentras over Ventoux.
the Ventoux, and I would love to see the Puy de Dome, since i dont recall ever seen it ridden in the time i have been able to watch the Tour. Lets keep Alp D'HUez out this year, just so the climb doesn't become overused.
As far as the dedicating a monument to Simpson, its not dedicated to the fact he was using drugs, is dedicated to the fact that despite falling off the bike, and on the verge of death, he was dedicated to get back on the bike and continue the ascent up the climb. This is why the monument was dedicated to him.
Wow, yeah the Puy de Dome! I remember i heard (during this years TdF) ASO is thinking about Puy de Dome back in the course(but i believe for 2008).
