  1. Anyone have any background on why the dates for the 2006 USPRO Champs
are still TBD? Is there some kind of dispute or just a local police
captain that doesn't want to close the streets in front of a church?
Seems this is also holding up release of the NRC schedule which was out
    by mid October last year.

Just to make sure my post is not wholly ignored, let me say that it is
obvious that Lance's personal Secret Service is busy framing every Pro
Tour team leader that ever left his team to seek personal glory. In
time the 'unexplained' phenomenon of his former teammates getting
busted will become known as the Curse of Armstrong.

That should have been the 'Scourge of Armstrong'. For trivializing the
Leader and his Influence, we've taken your name, we've written it down
and no doubt your time will come.

OTOH, this should not be taken as a threat, but a civilized exchange
of views, much as you might have on a sunny day on a nice day of
racing, relaxing somewhere between the front of the race and the pack
    behind.

    Have a nice day.

  3. USPro champs will not be in Philly this year; the contract with
Threshold ended last year and USAC has already expressed interest in
taking this race to other places and have an all-American field, which
    Threshold would never go for.

  4. I can understand not knowing stuff.

I cannnot understand not knowing stuff and then OPENING YOU FRIGGIN
    PIEHOLE.

the pro cycling tour site, or threshold's site for full details. US
Pro champs will be in Lancaster the weekend before philly, american
only. Threshold is still running it. The TT will also be in Lancaster
the Friday prior to the RR. Philly is still scheduled although it will
    not be the US champs.

    www.procyclingtour.com doesn't have anything about 2006,
unless it's very cleverly hidden somewhere.

AFAIK, USA Cycling hasn't announced the location of 2006 USPro
yet. I sure hope Philly continues to happen, and doesn't disappear
because of USAC's desire to muck with the formula. Of course,
Philly could happen even if it isn't the national championships, I
just don't know how much that factors into Threshold's ability to
get sponsors, cooperation from the city and so on.

People talk about how neophytes can't understand the Tour, but there
is enough pageantry in the Tour to overcome that. What triggers a
short attention span is when you try to explain why the winner of the
USPros is not a U.S.Pro and the winning U.S.Pro may be in the second
or third break. IMO it would be a hell of a lot easier just to
promote, before and after, a race where the winner is the person
    crossing the finish line first.

  7. This isn't unique. Look at a few other 'sports'.

Golf. person with the best final round isn't always the winner.
NASCAR (Neandertals Accelerating the Speedy Consumption of Americas
Resources). You have a two level competion going on, the weekly race
and the (your sponsers name here) Cup series.
NYC Marathon, overall winner and top USA runner.

With all the fans of those, you would think anybody could understand
the concept of having 2 winners in 1 event or cumulative time/points to
    determine an overall winner.

I do agree with not allowing foreign pros in the US pro race. Anytime
you mix categories, the weaker group is affected by the stronger,
giving you a distorted view of the abilities of the weaker.

Given the huge effort involved in Philly, I think it will be very
difficult for a anyone to organize a similar event on such short
notice. You can expect a huge drop in the overall quality of the event
next year, assuming anyone gets it together by then.

Lastly the date. Memorial Day Weekend is a busy race weekend already.
Moving the Pro race will mean cutting the pros out of pretty much all
other races scheduled. Better to stick to the existing pro nats time
period for all the other countries. Aren't most of the countries' pro
races held during the same short period of time? Why shouldn't UCI
dictate that all pros have to race their own race and not allow them to
enter any other on those couple of days.
