Peter, what is the largest tire that those DELTA brakes will allow?

Did you have Waterford braze the brake bridge in the 'normal' (39-49/50) position?

Since the caliper is adjustable in height, probably a 28 but I use pretty standard sewups..23.

Brake bridge is in a normal place. Waterford didn't know what brake I would be using.

The Records are the ultra's and have about 13-14k miles on them. They still shift perfectly fine, but they lack the solid click of the Centaur.

This brings up a question for P@V, not PeterF: do the new Record, SR, Chorus, et al still use a g-spring, or has the designed been modified to use something else? Iffin' they're the same, will it be possible to use g-springs from older Campy in the new Campy brifters? Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love the mechanical feel of Campy. I'd likely dig Campy more than my massive Campy digness allows now iffin' there were a spring that made for an even greater mechanical feel, a greater "snick", than my '05 Record has now.

It looks like I've been offered SR at a perversely low price (from an authorized dealer. The deal is SR specific.), and I'd like to be able to have that über mechanical feel.

2009 lever innards are completely different, thruout the line. Now using a disc with 2 teeny ball bearings that move thru 'notches' on a disc. All mated to a disc that wraps the cable. Same function as always(NOT like Escape or 'QS'😉, but with way more robust innards. If ya want a stiff shift, I have the 'famous' Red springs. $12 per spring, right lever only. Best when used with the metal spring carrier(EC-RE-111), not the Ultra, fiber one.

I was just wondering what the options were for SR. It's arrival is fairly definite, and it's the only option in the deal offered me.

I may have to order the carrier and spring, though, for my current Record group.

Hopefully someone will come up with an aftermarket disc that offers that more mechanical feel with the '09 SR, Record, Chorus, and etc. I've read from a few reviewers that they felt SR and the new Record have less of that distinctive Campy shifting feel.

Not as clicky but still pretty clicky(I like to use only technical terms). Feels like a Record shifter with a couple of thousand miles on it. BEST is the ERGOnomics. Very comfy lever.

While the "innards are completely different" on the new levers, are the receiving cavities (fore & aft) on the brake handle body the same?

I presume that if you can swap the older metal carrier + G-spring from a RED shifter that the front cavity hasn't changed; but, could you theoretically swap out the thumb shifter & spring, etc. from an older (non-Xenon/QS) ERGO shifter, too?

If you are asking can you put 2008 shift innards into a 2009 lever, the answer is no.

THANKS -- that was the question & subsequent answer.
