Saw a chap (prolly late teens) on a bike that was VERY small, im talking very small wheels and the
saddle was lowered as low as it would go, so when he sat down his knees were almost at his chest - i
have spotted this chap before so it looks like he is a commuter, how odd - cant be comfy to ride
like that surely - i guess it must "look cool" or something!?

    2)

Was going downhill and I had a cyclist in front of me pedaling like mad whilst going downhill, i was
probably 5m or so behind him not pedaling at all and gaining on him, had to keep braking to stop
running into the rear of him - made me smile to think the car drivers going past and looking at us.

Other than that, have a cold coming on :-( ah well, c'est la vie.

I always find fat people go faster downhill 😉 Well, I did hit over 50mph down Ditchling Beacon 🙂

I usually freewheel faster than others for some reason regardless of the 'iron' I am using. I put it
down to my level of maintenance on the bikes giving free running hubs and my 'low profile' body :-)

Wasn't riding a fixed wheel bike was he?

This isn't always true. I freewheel faster than most people I know. I put it down to my lack of
    frontal area 🙂

Not as far as I could see, looked like quite a modern affair with suspension on the forks
    and alsorts!

Loads of 'em down my way. They are either riding trials bikes which are great for stunts and
grabbing big air, but not very good for riding from point to point; or they're riding MTBs with the
saddle as low as it will go because they _think_ they're riding trials bikes which are great for
stunts and grabbing big air, but not very good for riding from point to point.

Yeah, I get that a lot, being a fat [censored] on a MTB with slicks I always catch up to skinny
whippits (wippets? wippits?) on road bikes downhill. Of course, a gut is aerodynamic, a bit like
those bulges on the front just below the waterline of supertankers!

Right, I'd better remember that one for later!

All Is Explained. He was using patented PermaBrake gnarlies :-)

  11. I quite often see adults riding BMX bikes here in London Town Devine, and just weep piteously.
Twice, if they ask me whether the Speedmachine is "comfortable".

The "is it comfortable?" is the one I can't really understand most of all the FAQs I get. Especially
when my "incredibly: that's the main point" is followed up with a puzzled look and "I can't see how
    that would be comfortable...".

It's got a big padded reclining easy chair and full suspension, fergawdsake, do these people sit on
red hot pokers for pleasure or what?

Which makes them only fractionally less stupid than the people who tell me that the Flying Banana
    "must be uncomfortable."

But considerably less stupid than those who ask 'have you got a puncture?'

I've seen some of these. On youngsters perhaps the knees can take it, but on adults it can't be
    doing them any good.

Quote from a chap on an ill fitting ATB, catching me up at a cyclepath barrier after being passed by

I agree, the BMX has a much more natural position to cycle in. 😉 I have a colleague who is about
6'3" and rides a BMX. from what I've seen he never sits down.
