I disagree with you about Iraq, but that disagreement is dwarfed by my
disagreement with the apocalyptic importance you attach to it, or any
other political issue, for that matter. Luke 21:5-19 says it all. I
know it seems so unglaublich: e.g. "......some of you will be put to
death.........yet not a hair of your head will be harmed...." What
seeming non-sense! But yet exactly such mysteries provide the
strength to look with equanimity (but not indiffference) at wars and
rumors of wars, and all the injustices that surround us on every
side. I have my problems with Islam, but a bumper sticker I saw on a
car with a license plate that read "Hajj _" was one I could certainly
relate to: "God is in charge.....believe it or not". When you can be
bumped off any minute by the next car that goes past your bike, why
worry about political threats?

One benefit of our long bike rides is the great opportunity it gives
to see the brighter side of things, as you have so readily shared in
your many reports!

On the other hand, the money could be put to good use in repairing the
US infrastructure - I saw some potholes near the Sun/Hayes/Wheelsmith
manufacturing facility that would swallow a Surley Pugsley (bicycle
content).

countries that pose no threat to us, but that have despicable leaders
that abuse their own citizens, as well as some that actually do pose a
