I didn't get a chance to view the ITT today but went to letour.com and
looked at the elevation profile. What is the elevation of that peak at the
2.5 Km mark/and what distance is the climb. What would a rider's speed be
going up that incline; is the advantage of going down the back side greater
than the loss going up the climb if a rider were to for instance ride on a
flat grade. Was there a tail wind, this speed seems almost impossible.

I believe that the times for the course that went up and over the bridge
would have been quicker than if they had taken the flat route for this
course. -

course where the uphills are equal to the downhills there's always a
loss in average speed compared to a flat course *if* the power output
is constant and the same. There would have to be some benefit due to
the variation in grade that would cause the average power to go up...
and I can't imagine what that would be. -
