  1. Hello everyone,

Thanks for the great links with the info in response to
my previous post. It really helped me out in my bike
decision. I was able to go into the bike store a bit
more informed. So, I bought a bike and took it out into
the woods for the first time today. It was a great
experience. Spring finally arrived in my corner of
Michigan this week so I think I was the first out on the
particular trail I selected. This led to a problem in
that it was hard to tell where the trail was at times.
In addition, some trees came down over the winter
blocking the existing trail. Over the course of about
5-6 miles I managed to not get lost, so that was good 🙂
I saw several pheasants, lots of ducks near the river...
just a beautiful day if still brown. No falls, but a few
beginner mistakes. The worst was that I approached
inclines in the wrong gear and too slow on several
occasions leaving me stranded half way up.

Anyway, I am hopeful that I'll have lots more days
    like this.

Even a bad day on the bike is pretty good, usually. Thanks
for report, we all make beginner mistakes, we just hope to
make less as we ride more.

You'll get used to shifting down to the right gear just
before the climb. It all comes with experience.

No doubt you will! Fun stuff, isn't it?

Remember, keep the singletrack narrow and if you can't ride
an obstacle in the trail, walk it. Don't ride around it or
    tear it out.

Why doesn't anyone respond to my ride reports?

Having said that, I rode to class today.

Nice, did you make that curb you've been working on?

More people read them than respond to them, I figure. At
least I hope so, since I get so few responses!

You can almost always count on Wheeler to give his one-
    line review!

Because "freeriding in Florida" isn't real mountain biking.

That's not exciting unless it was rush hour in Los Angeles
on a fixed gear with no brakes.
