1984 [?] Fuji Palisade

It's worth less than $50 and that's if it's in nearly prefect condition. They go begging for $25 at garage sales around here and end up at thrift stores, and then the landfill or recycle bin.

VALite, if I recall correctly, was used on entry level to mid-priced Fujis. I believe it's a vanadium steel alloy. I had an '84 Team Fuji with quad butted main tubes and VALite stays.

The only real difference between this bike and and the 2003 Fuji Roubaix Pro that is replacing it is about 3 pounds and STI brifters. Not bad for $200.

Is it worth buying for $35 for should I just buy something else? I was looking at buying new. I saw a Fuji for $370, but it weighed 24 lbs! I would rather ride my Specialized mountain that weighs 15.

Old non collectible bikes are worth whatever they are worth to you. If it does the same job as something that cost 10 times as much, and doesn't need alot of fixing, it's worth it. Consider it disposable.Ride it till it craps out, if it ever does and then get another. Cheap grins are good!

Exactly. I don't race, or aspire to compete that closely with fellow riders on the basis of the bike. Fuji's bikes in the '80s were excelent roadies, IMO. I like steel. They were steel. Maybe I was off on the weight and they are more like 4, or 5lbs, heavier than today's $1,000+ metal, but they weren't Schwins!

Well, there were Schwinn Paramounts and then there were the Varsitys(sp?) Fuji made the whole range.Some of it was pretty decent.

I bought my 02 Specialized (mountain bike) at BikeSource for $320. I like it a lot, but it's just not suitable for longer rides.
