Unfortunately, I came in towards the end and didn't get all the
information... but I thought she was the one who works in an exercise
studio. Didn't hear it when they mentioned someone being a cookbook
author.

I dunno, I was just a bit unimpressed with that Chicken Salad winner. I
mean, every fern bar in town has been doing some version of this or
another for quite some time now. What makes this contest entry special?

mean, every fern bar in town has been doing some version of this or

She's a college professor in (I think) Sociology, working on her PhD.
She also is the author a few cookbooks, she teaches aerobics classes at
the college and she's won a *ton* of contests. The show made point of
mentioning the major appliances and cookware and minor kitchen
appliances that she's won over the years.

And I agree with another poster -- her recipe wasn't, IMO, all that
special. Then again, I didn't get to taste any of her competition.

Hmmm. I know what you mean, but I do think the maple syrup in the dressing
and the sugared pecans are a departure from anything I've seen. Come to
think of it, it sounds terribly sweet. Maybe things blend up differently
than I'm imagining.

The part of the show I caught said that the judging was not only on
taste and presentation, but how likely it was that people would make
the recipe. IOW: is it simple enough for Joe and Josephine Average?
It reminded me of chicken piccatta, seemed tastey and I'd try making
it at least once.

I did a baked salmon filet with maple syrup and coarsely chopped black
peppercorns, and it was really yummy.
