Tellingly, "OR" ! Take a week's vacation, or pay *not more than* 10 000
    USD.
    Golly.

Guessing the 10 day suspension, unless it is paid, will cost more than
the $ 10,000 for practically everyone. Too much bother to look it up,
but if the minimum for a major league player is $ 250,000 or more, it
probably will run at least the $ 10,000.

Unpaid suspensions have a built-in equalization about it. It will cost
some $ 10,000, others hundreds of thousands.

The minimum for baseball looks like i's about $325,000/yr for football
about $725,000. They have scrapped the fines after the beating they
took BFD. When there are steroids and other drugs that were negotiated
into not being tested for it's all a joke. My understanding was that
there were 2 steroids and 2 other precursors purposely noted as not
being tested for, but baseball has said that they would be covered too
under the "other tests as needed" clause. Don't think anybody in
Congress believed them I sure don't.
Seems to me when you tell people what you aren't going to be testing
for, then say with a wink, "we might though" that it's an open
    invitation.
Bud Selig makes Verbruggen look fantastic. He's such a POS tool to
help the owners line their pockets it's ridiculous. The Union has been
as bad, or worse, but both sides have shown that they really don't give
a [censored] about the game or the fans, it's about the cash and nothing but
the cash. Hockey killed itself with that attitude, maybe baseball will
    too.

Let's see what a two-year suspension would do to the bottom line.
