Boy, that link looks like a pretty good fake! Someone put a lot of work
into that fraud.

Why do you think it's fake? The address seems to be the same as the link
itself. I.e. it doesn't show http://ebay.com but really have
www.ripYouOff.com underneath.

Also the page it links to doesn't have a link asking you for your username
and password. It says something about signing up but nothing about current
users.

cough up that extra 10%?

You're right -- when I looked at it the first time, I thought the link
was asking for a username and password to get the coupon. I didn't read
it closely enough. So it's less phishy than I first thought, but I'm
still skeptical.

Investigation continues...

I looked in the Paypal community message boards. One thread said to use
"CELEBRATE" in all caps, and that works. I haven't tried it ... yet.

For what is is worth, I saw this mentioned on both www.techbargains.com and
www.slickdeals.net. They said 10% when paying via PayPal. I happened to be
buying a little something and tried it. It worked just fine. The price of the
item was $16.50 and my PayPal receipt shows a discount of $1.65. David
