  1. My saddle gives me a bit of a poke between the legs, which is not
altogether comfortable - it feels as though it's pressing a bit too hard
at a spot just behind my balls. Today I tried tilting my saddle down a
bit, but the next step down made me feel as if I were about slide off
forwards. Any suggestions about what to try next?

Move the saddle forwards a bit so that your senstitive area is not on the
pummel, but more on the squashy bit towards the middle of the saddle?

Try every other adjustment with the saddle including seatpost down if you
think that wouldn't be too bad for pedalling. Handlebar adjustments next,
maybe even consider a shorter stem to make you more upright. Another
    saddle if nothing else works.

A so-called female specific saddle that has a cut out in the nose, if the
cut out area can be manoeuvred into the place where you are feeling
pressure. My first one of these was a revelation in the increased comfort
level, by taking the pressure off exactly the right place. It made the
difference between being able to ride about 20 miles with agonising after
effects, to riding a century without giving a thought to saddle and bum
comfort. I don't see why it shouldn't work for a bloke, if the
backward/forward positioning of the saddle produces a riding position with
    the right amount of reach.

There are quite a few manufacturers offering these now at reasonable prices.
My latest is a Bontrager at about 20 quid. I also have a Terry liberator
which was more expensive, but isn't intrinsically better, just more me
    shaped.

    Remove balls.

If you were being specific with your terminology when you said
"next step down", I suggest a micro-adjust (AKA stepless)
    seat stem.

I agree with Simon. It's almost certainly not the tilt of the saddle
that's the problem. It should be level.

You might want to consider a saddle with a cutout if changing the position
    doesn't work.

Be careful because most seatposts described as "micro adjust" are not
stepless, they just have small steps. In fact, normal bog standard cheapo
one-bolt seatposts are usually called micro adjust. It's micro compared
to the nasty seatposts of old with the separate saddle clamps.

I like the ITM two-bolt stepless-tilt seatposts, such as Big One and
    Millenium.
