I have a set of 8 speed ergo shifters, which despite being 8 speed, are relatively "new" (less than 1500 miles on them). Lately the rear shifter has developed the annoying habit of sometimes dropping me down a couple of cogs whenever I reach a stop light, without me doing any shifting. I'm sure that there's no contact being made with the shift button. Is this a sign that it's time for a rebuild? Any ideas?

It is time for a rebuild or you have a broken spring carrier, which can feel like a broken spring. Send them to me for a one day turnaround.
